Llandovery Museum andVisitor Gateway
Shining a Light on North East Carmarthenshire
DEWCH I YMUNO GYDA NI YN Y FENTER NEWYDD CYFFROUS HON YN ADEILAD Y GANNWYLL AR Y 13eg O EBRILL 2019.
You are cordially invited to join us at the start of something very special on Saturday 13thof April 2019.
An exciting, community-driven venture is working to deliver what our area clearly deserves – a central point for Welsh culture. Llandovery may be a small town but it packs a huge historical and geographical punch and is ideally located as a Visitor Gateway to the Brecon Beacons, the Cambrian Mountains and the rest of Carmarthenshire.
The home of this venture will be the old Heritage Centre building on King’s Road which has been renamed “Y Gannwyll’ in honour of Vicar Prichard whose poems were published under the title of Canwyll y Cymru (The Welshman’s Candle).
The new logo you see above is part of the professional branding we will be using throughout the building, on signage, social media, marketing, packaging, website and all media. We want to be distinctive and therefore we have dared to be different. The Logo is based on the helmet of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan and it can be perceived, and used, in many different ways.
This bilingual venture will bring together three naturally linked themes all under the one roof. There will be:
- A Museum for History and Culture
- A Visitor Gateway to promote local activities and businesses, and
- A Family History Centre.
As we begin our journey in making this project something we can all be proud of we will commence this Easter with a soft opening on the 12thApril. We are very ambitious to promote local attractions whilst we continue to grow the project.
AND WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS…….
There’s such a lot of work to get through over the next couple of years so please if you can spare a little time and would like to volunteer then call us. There’s something for everyone to get involved in, so join us now at the start of something special.
And finally we would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the following, without whom, this undertaking would not be possible:
Llandovery Town Council, Carmarthenshire County Council, The Princes Trust, Llandovery History Society, Dyfed Family History Society, Brecon Beacons National Park, Pach Business Solutions, Antidote Design, John Morgan, Local Businesses and all our many Staunch Supporters
Diolch o galon i pawb sydd wedi helpu ni
